Do you ever read your bible and think, "That was nice, how in the world does this even apply to my life and where I'm at?" You're not alone. I think too many times we conclude the Bible is too difficult to understand or too irrelevant that we just put it aside and figure it doesn't work for us.

What about digging in a little deeper? What about fully trying to comprehend what this Jesus based life is truly all about? I think in order to have a good understanding of why you're a Christian and why you choose to make certain choices, it's good to study the words and sayings of Jesus. Some stuff He said is pretty straightforward like, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who persecute you. (I said straightforward not easy to live out). Other sayings are anything but simple and everything complex, confusing, and difficult to put into practice. This summer at the Project we will be studying some of these sayings and gleaning the life change that they are screaming at us.

Here's the first one to ponder:Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. "There is still one thing you haven't done," he told him. "Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Mark 10:21

See you Sunday as we talk about this tough saying of Jesus.
